Greetings, friends, new and old from “Gail Post, PhD: A Psychologist's Perspective.”
Join me here for commentary, science-backed articles, and some occasional guidance about psychology, wellness, relationships, cognitive abilities, neurodiversity, parenting, aging, and getting by in this complicated world.
If a psychological perspective about ideas, concepts, and human nature feeds your own inquisitive mind…
If you are a sensitive, perceptive, empathetic soul who is attuned to the world around you…
If you are a parent trying to find your way, raise your child, and maintain your sense of self…
If you are cognitively gifted, a creative, neurodiverse, or off the beaten track…
If you are navigating anxiety or pressures related to achievement or gender or body dysmorphia or aging or cultural/political norms that just don’t make sense…
Then this Substack may be for you.
I am a Clinical Psychologist, in practice for 40 years, and also a parenting consultant, clinical associate professor, author, and workshop leader. (See more in the About section.) I have written widely, including online articles, several book chapters, and a book, The Gifted Parenting Journey: A Guide to Self-Discovery and Support for Families of Gifted Children.
Some of you know me from Medium, where I write about wellness, health, and mental health. Many of you also know me from my blog, Gifted Challenges, where I have written for almost 12 years about intellectual and musical giftedness, neurodiversity, parenting, and advocacy for more targeted, equitable, and meaningful education for high ability children.
I will continue to write about giftedness and neurodiversity, but look forward to exploring a vast array of topics that reflect, well… my perspective as a psychologist. Hence, the name change to A Psychologist’s Perspective, which more broadly reflects the scope of my writing. I have also included a few of my favorite Gifted Challenges posts (okay, more than a few) in the archives here.
