I cannot get out of my head Hitler’s rise to power and the dire consequences thereof. It is as though we are entering into the New Dark Ages.

I love this post for so many reasons. In an upcoming post of my own, I will discuss those things that my mother and I cannot speak about. To this point, we have barely acknowledged that an election took place. Discussing it would lead to estrangement and we are both too old for that to happen. I agreed to buy a ticket to this circus, hoping against all hope that it is not the disaster I fear it will be. There is no way to turn my back on what is happening, too much is at risk. I hope we all survive it.

Thank you so much, Leslie. These conflicts in families are so painful... and unfortunately, widespread. It's great that you are able to face what is happening head on; many people are so overwhelmed now that they can't. I certainly agree that a lot is at risk. We can't ignore what is happening but each need to carve out our space that we can manage to effect change.
