Thanks for this piece. It’s a welcome and needed reminder.
All of our journeys do not solely consist of smooth sailing (though our culture tends to worship unattainable perfection). On our paths we are inevitably going to experience suffering and hardship, the perception of inadequacy and self-doubt. Yet, if we practice paying attention… witnessing our selves in all our beautiful messiness… we can learn that in spite of our present challenges we already have what we need:
“There is nothing outside of yourself that can enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker, or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside of yourself.” —Miyamoto Musashi
And to cite Rilke for the thousandth time, “You just keep going.”
As the joke goes, sometimes we really would like a way to return our gifts. We can’t though… and we can find ways to use them to positively support ourselves and others.
Thank you. This made me feel seen! 🙏
Thank you, Robin! We all deserve to feel seen!
Great work you are doing on behalf of gifted/talented/creative individuals and helping them explore their thoughts and feelings and relationships!
Thank you, Michael. I'm trying!
